AIIMS and Friends: UR Closing Ranks at the 10 Most Selective MBBS AIQ Seats, 2023–2025

Everyone knows AIIMS Delhi is the summit of NEET counselling. But the top of the All India Quota (AIQ) table is a small, surprisingly stable club — and the order inside it shuffles more than you might expect. We ranked every MBBS AIQ seat by its 2025 UR closing rank in the official MCC allotment data and tracked the top ten back through 2024 and 2023.

What moved, and what didn't
The Delhi wall is intact. Four of the top five seats are in Delhi — MAMC, Safdarjung, AIIMS Delhi and RML — and all four have closed inside the top 220 ranks in each of the last three years. RML is almost eerily stable: 203, 203, 215. If your dream is a Delhi MBBS seat through AIQ, the three-year evidence says you need a rank of roughly 100–215, full stop.
AIIMS Delhi's odd 2025. The most storied seat in the country closed at 47 in 2024 and 57 in 2023, then slipped to 207 in 2025 — falling to third in the selectivity order behind MAMC (103) and Safdarjung (132). Final closing ranks at the very top are sensitive to a handful of individual choices (top-100 candidates choosing MAMC's Delhi-clinical ecosystem, upgrades, or exits), so one year is not a trend — but it is a reminder that "AIIMS Delhi always closes under 60" is not a law of nature.
JIPMER snapped back. Puducherry's flagship blew out to 867 in 2024, then tightened to 260 in 2025 — the sharpest recovery in the table and a caution against reading any single year as destiny.
The bottom half is drifting looser. AIIMS Rishikesh (931 → 731 → 1,104) and Seth GS Mumbai (737 → 1,010 → 1,126) have both crossed the four-digit line. The club's entry fee, once roughly "top 900," now stretches to about rank 1,100 — modest but real breathing room for candidates in the 900–1,150 band.
Takeaways for the 2026 aspirant
- Treat ranks under ~220 as the Delhi-quartet zone; under ~400, add JIPMER and AIIMS Jodhpur.
- Between 600 and 1,150, AIIMS Bhopal, BJMC Ahmedabad, AIIMS Rishikesh and Seth GS have all closed at least once in your range in the last three years — list all of them.
- Year-to-year wobble of 200–400 ranks is normal even at famous institutions; build your choice list on the three-year band, not last year's single number.
